How to get involved in Youth Work Week 2024

Help us celebrate the preventative power of youth work from 5-11th November with this year’s theme of “Upstream Solutions”.

National Youth Work Week 2024 is just around the corner, running from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th November, and this year’s theme, “Upstream Solutions – Youth Work’s Role in Prevention”, will celebrate the vital role youth work plays in early intervention and prevention.

Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting how youth work supports young people to develop resilience, build essential life skills, and overcome challenges before they escalate. By providing early support, youth work helps tackle issues such as mental health, educational disengagement, youth offending, and inequality, ensuring young people can thrive and contribute positively to their communities.

Each day of the week will focus on a different area of prevention:

Youth workers, organisations, and young people are encouraged to get involved throughout the week by sharing stories, photos, and videos that showcase the preventative power of youth work. It might be case studies or impact stats from your annual report; it could be impactful quotes from young people to showcase their youth work journey; you might want to record a short clip of yourself outlining the success stories from a specific youth work project.

Why not set up social media challenge, inviting young people to share the best advice they’ve received through youth work, or reflecting on how youth work has changed their life. It’s really over to you! Download our comms pack for more ideas about how to get involved.

To join the conversation, make sure to use the hashtags #YWW2024 and #InvestInYouthWork on all your posts. We’re also inviting youth work organisations to submit their impact stories, case studies, and statistics to our refreshed National Impact Hub, which showcases the incredible difference youth work is making across Scotland.

For more information on how to get involved or to share your stories, contact our Senior Digital & Communications Officer Eddie Nisbet on enisbet@youthlink.scot.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to celebrate the positive changes youth work brings to young people and communities across the country!
