This dynamic and collaborative campaign aims to energise Volunteer-Involving Organisations (VIOs) across Scotland, empowering them to overcome recruitment challenges and boost volunteer engagement.
A recent survey conducted by the Volunteering Action Plan Cost of Living Task Group highlighted the significant hurdles faced by VIOs. Many organisations are experiencing a decline in volunteer numbers and availability, with challenges in attracting young people and reaching diverse communities. The survey also identified pressing needs in sectors such as health, disability, wellbeing, and local community activities. Volunteer retention issues and the increasing expectation to replace paid staff with volunteers further underscore the urgency of addressing these challenges.
The National Recruitment Campaign is designed to inspire and uplift. The aim is to provide a wealth of new and existing resources, bringing together the best practices and insights from across the sector into one centralised space. This includes practical how-to guides, top tips, and innovative strategies. The campaign will facilitate networking opportunities for VIOs to connect, share and learn from experiences, and collaborate on impactful solutions. There will also be exciting workshops and training sessions led by industry experts to equip organisations with the essential skills to attract and retain volunteers. By accessing the up-to-date research, insights, and tailored support, organisations can refine their recruitment strategies and create thriving volunteer programmes.
This campaign is more than just a response to challenges; it’s a call to action for organisations across Scotland to get involved and make a difference. Organisations and individuals with valuable insights and experiences are encouraged to contribute and share their knowledge.
