UK-based young people aged 18-25 have until 5pm on Friday 23 February 2024 to apply for this prestigious training programme. Grierson DocLab aims to help people without connections to the factual TV and documentary industry take their first steps into securing the work experience and networks to succeed in the sector.
Grierson DocLab is a training programme that helps UK-based new entrants aged 18-25 thrive in the world of factual TV and documentary filmmaking. It has been running since 2012 and, coupled with the Netflix and Prime Video Pathway-supported Grierson DocLab In Focus schemes, has now seen over 165 trainees go through the programme.
The initiative takes place over approximately one year and aims to equip 12 successful trainees with the skills, knowledge, confidence and connections to pursue a career in the UK factual TV industry.
No experience is required, and candidates don’t need to have studied film/TV to apply either.
Successful candidates get intensive training, a trip to Sheffield DocFest, a paid work placement at a production company, a mentor match, career coaching and much more.
Applications are especially welcome from those under-represented in the industry (whether from lower socio-economic background, based outside of London, disabled people, ethnic minatory background, LGBTQ+ community etc).
The training programme is completely free to apply for and there is no cost involved in taking part in the programme for successful applicants.
The deadline for applications is 23rd February.
