CHEX: Working Across Scotland to Promote Community-led Health

Find out more about the national network, working with community-led health organisations, local authorities, the NHS and Scottish Government to promote the approach as a way to tackle Scotland’s persistent health inequalities.

Community-led health is a way for people to take joint action to improve things for their community, leading to improved health and wellbeing. CHEX (Community Health EXchange) is a national network, working with community-led health organisations, local authorities, the NHS and Scottish Government to promote the approach as a way to tackle Scotland’s persistent health inequalities.

This network is open to individuals working in or interested in community-led health from across all sectors.  Being involved with the CHEX Network provides the opportunity to come together, across all sectors, to share learning and practice as well as influence policy and showcase good practice. You will also receive the popular fortnightly bulletin, snippets, which features the latest relevant news, events, vacancies, reports and more. You can sign up on their website.

Community-led health organisations can also apply to join the database, which shows the range of great work happening on the ground to improve health and wellbeing.  Have a look and see who is doing what in your area, and if any local organisations you think might be a good fit have been missed, please forward the link to them!

The Network has been working hard over the last few months to collate and create new items for their resource hub, which provides useful and relevant information on topics such as: how community-led health works in practice, the social determinants of health and health inequalities.

They are also the home of Health Issues in the Community, which support adults and young people engage in understanding and tackling the health issues important to them, using community development approaches.
